TRIGGER WARNING - DISCUSSING ABUSE
Let’s normalize not supporting the people who support abusers by promoting them, being their friend or creatively collaborating with them. People like kendrick lamar are just as dangerous as the diddy’s, the jay Z’s, and drake’s of the world. There’s nothing more dangerous than a person who supports the act of abuse and then calls it out for monetary gain. Those are the ones that you really have to look out for and here’s why:
A person who knows about the harm someone inflicts on society and still gives them grace and room to grow or do it again is the one who will lead you to the abusers. “kendrick does a great job at keeping the legacy of abusers alive.” -
said. For example, his good pal dr.dre has been a monster for as long as I can remember. dre started his professional career in the late 80s with the group NWA. Although this group was heavily into speaking about the traumas of a black man in Americka this group was the biggest red flag against women. It wasn’t until Straight Outta Compton was released and the iconic Michel'le and Yo-yo wasn’t mentioned that made me take a deeper look into their stories. After seeing Surviving Compton, I couldn’t sit back and honor the legacy of a man like dre any longer.

The argument is always “maybe kendrick didn’t know.” Well maybe he didn’t but if you know about the stories of Drake due to the internet then you know about dre. There are documentaries about the abuse and the manipulation of this man. However, drake does not. Let’s be clear drake is all of the things kendrick says he is but kendrick is a hypocrite. Not only working with dre is a testament of that but working with kodak black is another. kodak is a convicted rapist and is known for the hardship on black women. For some reason, he doesn’t have the same energy for him. Why is that? Maybe because it’s not personal. Well it becomes personal when you choose to call people out for abuse while financially and creatively supporting another abuser. I honestly do not get it.
“Standing for something only when it’s beneficial just means you’re standing on one leg.” -
I try not to get bothered by people who listen to kendrick but I’ve realized that they are just lyrical stans. A lot of people who are fans of lyrical artists tend to think that Stan culture doesn’t affect them because they have some type of lyrical edge that understands the artist. However, in my experience, kendrick fans are the blind version of the delusional side of the Beehive. Stan culture has the power to overlook the worse of the worst.
He isn’t the only celebrity who talks that talk but never walks that walk. Nicki Minaj loves talking about certain topics while she fell in love with a rapist. Her fans don’t make the situation any better because the too condone the behavior.
Let’s not mention the amount of support for tory lanez especially in the music industry. A lot of these mfs showed their ass when it came to the support of tory. mario, iggy azalea (like girl), 21 savage, meek mill, fivio foreign, chris brown (how ironic), drake (DRAKE), and more.
We can go all day about the maroons that support abusers but the moral of the story is when you support abusers especially with creative collaboration you tell the public that it is okay or that you do not care about victims. Even when that’s not the case, that’s the message.
What’s even scarier? These mfs work their way into the beautiful bodies of work of a female artist who is making their mark on the industry. On one hand, it’s unfair to them but on the other, it shows that they do not care about the message they are sending. Imagine being a victim or survivor who finds some healing in their music and then here comes a damn abuser fucking up the energy. It’s almost like that uncle who never was held accountable and still comes around the family and of course, the family knew what was going on. Therefore, they are in support of abusers too. These situations are similar and hold the same effect.
These acts are dangerous to society because they normalize the behavior of abuse. These abusers are walking around feeling invincible until they meet someone like me or a movement like me willing to call the bullshit out. They have been trying to censor us for so long that now they feel like they can get away with anything. With that being said, supporting them in any form lets us know that they can indeed get away with it. This is something Hollywood will continue to support for some strange reason.
abusers deserve to be alone.
Decenter abusers.
Stop triggering the world.
